چکیده

Background Combined with Variable density Incoherent SpatioTemporal Acquisition (VISTA, [1]), SPIRiT [2] reconstruction can provide an avenue for highly accelerated real-time, free-breathing cardiac imaging. Yet the high computational cost of iterative algorithms limits practical clinical implementation. The Fast Iterative Shrinkage Thresholding Algorithm (FISTA) [3] can potentially reduce the computational cost of SPIRiT [4]. In this work, we combine FISTA optimization with VISTA sampling and spatiotemporally regularized SPIRiT reconstruction to demonstrate the feasibility of real-time cine accelerated to rate 15, while providing a pathway to practical clinical application.

High spatial and temporal resolution retrospective cine cardiovascular magnetic resonance from shortened free breathing real-time acquisitions

BACKGROUND Cine cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) is challenging in patients who cannot perform repeated breath holds. Real-time, free-breathing acquisition is an alternative, but image quality is typically inferior. There is a clinical need for techniques that achieve similar image quality to the segmented cine using a free breathing acquisition. Previously, high quality retrospectively ...

Free-breathing renal MR angiography with steady-state free-precession (SSFP) and slab-selective spin inversion: initial results.

BACKGROUND The aim of our study was the investigation of a novel navigator-gated three-dimensional (3D) steady-state free-precession (SSFP) sequence for free-breathing renal magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) without contrast medium, and to examine the advantage of an additional inversion prepulse for improved contrast. METHODS Eight healthy volunteers (mean age 29 years) and eight patients...

High spatial and temporal resolution cardiac cine MRI from retrospective reconstruction of data acquired in real time using motion correction and resorting.

Cine MRI is used for assessing cardiac function and flow and is typically based on a breath-held, segmented data acquisition. Breath holding is particularly difficult for patients with congestive heart failure or in pediatric cases. Real-time imaging may be used without breath holding or ECG triggering. However, despite the use of rapid imaging sequences and accelerated parallel imaging, real-t...

Comparison of a novel free breathing SSFP sequence with standard breath held SSFP- a pilot study

Background Despite advances in magnetic resonance imaging hardware and software, the acquisition of optimal cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) images may be hampered by several factors. Most notably, scan length, the requirement for multiple breath holds and cardiac gating can all impact upon image quality. Real time cardiac imaging holds promise for reducing scan times via rapid acquisitions of ...
